07SepGanztätig11Project Week "Futurescapes" with an Advanced Art Class from Hainberg High School on the Exhibition "Xenoform" by Nieves de la Fuente

The exhibition “Xenoform” by Nieves de la Fuente served as the starting point for the “Futurescapes” project week, which took place from September 7 to 11, 2026, with fourteen students from an advanced art class at Hainberg-Gymnasium in Göttingen.

Taking the exhibition—which shows the connection between space exploration, environmental exploitation, and artificial intelligence—as their starting point, the students examined the Kerstlingeröder Feld as an archive of human interventions, historical processes, and political decisions.
Through dialogue with the artist and their own artistic research, they developed questions about power, industrialization, colonialism, technology, and the environment: Who shapes spaces? Who controls resources? What interests and decisions become visible in a landscape—and which remain invisible?

During a site visit to the Kerstlingeröder Feld, the students explored traces of human use and developed their own artistic works based on their observations. The focus was on carefully interpreting the site and articulating their own interests.
In the studio, these impressions were then elaborated upon and realized using various materials. Analog works were scanned in three dimensions and translated into digital objects.
Finally, the young people independently curated their works in a virtual exhibition at New Art City.

“Futurescapes” combined artistic practice with critical reflection and digital experimentation, using landscape as a starting point for a personal exploration of power, history, technology, and social responsibility.
