Lauren Huret’s artistic work deals with technological imaginary worlds, belief systems, computer history and the distribution of images on the Internet. Her performance “Relaxing Data” is a relaxation session for which she uses a form of body-scan meditation. The body is gradually scanned from top to toe and is used as a temporal yardstick by Huret. Beginning in 1984 (her year of birth), she tells the story of technological progress over the last three decades, especially in the fields of communication and information, thereby creating an impersonal autobiography. Huret combines relaxation techniques with knowledge transfer and thus takes up the overwhelming challenges people currently face in the light of rapid technological development. For the first time, the performance will also be made accessible to a German audience through an additional session with the Hamburg-based artist Alice Peragine.
Lauren Huret (*1984) lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland. She studied at the École supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and the Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD) in Geneva. Lauren Huret has shown her works and performances internationally, among others at the Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris; Kunsthaus Langenthal; La Panacée, Montpellier; Le Magasin, Grenoble; Pioneer Works, New York; Kunstmuseum Luzern; Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin; Haus der Elektronischen Künste, Basel.
