As part of the five-day “Expanding Bodies” workshop held from July 6–10, 2026, children aged seven to thirteen from the Grone Neighborhood Center explored the connections between the body, technology, and the future through creative activities.

The starting point was a visit of the exhibition “Being Flesh” by artist Roy Köhnke, whose works the children explored together and reflected upon in discussions about vulnerability, identity, and the human body. In various drawing exercises, the children then questioned notions of the body and created their own body-beings.

Following, the children developed their own visions of the future in the neighborhood center’s studio: Using collages, drawings, clay, cardboard, paint, and recycled materials, they created bodies, robots, and body extensions. Movement and painting activities, both indoors and outdoors, combined artistic work with physical experience and collaborative experimentation.
The program concluded with a group performance in which the figures and performances created were presented and celebrated within the group.

This project was supervised by artist Marit Helen Brunnert, performance artist and art mediator Lara Pigorsch and Paula Sander, Head of Art Education at the Kunstverein.
