On November 28, 2025, a group from the Grone Neighborhood Center, accompanied by art educator Ute Reichmann, visited the exhibition “Between the Lines”. The group consisted of people of various ages, including children, parents, and young adults.

The workshop focused on the sound and video installation “Between the Lines” and the installation “Liquid Properties” because they are particularly accessible regardless of age or cultural background. After the welcome, the artist’s works were examined one by one using magnifying glasses and discussed. During the sound installation in the central hall of the Old Town Hall in Göttingen, participants discussed—in a safe setting—both the perceived aesthetic qualities and analogies, such as those between bark beetle tunnels and trenches, as well as their personal associations with war and the resulting feelings of fear and powerlessness.

The creative portion of the day focused on constructive strategies for dealing with the emotions that had been triggered, as well as corresponding symbolic, ritual, religious, or media-based personifications, such as guardian spirits, guardian angels, or superheroes. This was prepared by examining color charts brought in by the participants, which featured examples from various eras, religions, cultural contexts, and media. From these, the participants could choose their favorites and share them with the others.

Afterward, they used wax crayons to draw their own personal guardian spirits on white-primed packing paper. The session concluded with a brief tour during which the participants could show off their artwork and share personal stories.
